Dances happen weekly, Sunday mornings & Thursday nights @ Ballet School/Cville Center for the Arts (location info. Please see our homepage for updates on individual dances!

We always need more music facilitators and opener/closers. Please get in touch if interested!

GENERAL MEETING

General Meetings happen periodically, and will generally be announced well in advance. Date, time and location will always be posted here.

All are welcome, all decide together! The general meeting is the centerpiece of decision-making in our community organization. It is the place where we are coming together to co-create new things and to make decisions together on how to collectively steward our sacred dance. Through our general meeting decision making process we are empowering members of our community to start small working groups to create new things and to organize our collective in a more open and inclusive way.

Relational Support Team
In an effort to maintain the stability and safety of our beautiful dance community, a group of mental health workers have created a Relational Support Team (RST). The role of RST is to help support anyone experiencing behaviors that compromise a sense of safety on the dance floor.

If you would like support in navigating any interpersonal challenges experienced at dance, you may:

  • Reach out to an RST member in person
  • Fill out a feedback form and put it into the RST box (on the Welcome table)
  • Send an email to an RST member (contact info below)

Levels of support available:

  • Listening and providing guidance

  • Talking individually to all parties involved

  • If agreed upon, mediation between parties

GOVERNANCE WORKING GROUP

The governance working group has been charged with setting agendas for the general meeting (GM), selecting facilitators for the GM, collecting agenda items for the GM, and defining the overall governing / meeting structure that will be used for the long term stewardship of the Cville Dance Co-Op. The governance working group is open to all who wish to participate.

The Friday Night Dance Working Group has been charged with exploring and implementing a Friday night dance, incorporating innovative and experimental ideas. Please get in touch if you'd like to help!

Responsibilities of the Sunday Operations working group include: scheduling of music facilitators, opener/closer arrangement and scheduling, communication with the community, and various logistical activities. Please get in touch if you'd like to get involved.

The Liability, Incorporation and Insurance working group will research options for limiting liability via creating a company and/or obtaining insurance for the Dance Co-op.  Please get in touch if you'd like to get involved.

The Survey Creation working group will poll the dance community on various topics.  Please get in touch if you'd like to help.
